The Multi-beam Sounder Systems are one of the preferred optionsfor understanding the morphology of the seabed, evidencing itself as thetool of choicefor the collection of hydrographic information of greater confidenceby the potential of full coverage of the bottom withhigh density of measurements. This allows theconstruction of digital terrain models thatfaithfully reproduce the underwater relief.
It is possible not only to obtaina high resolution bathymetric image butalso to obtain anacousticimage, either for identification of different types ofsurface sediments or for confrontation with thebathymetric image, for quality control.
The data acquired has a wide range ofapplications andis currently the standard instrument for performing high quality hydrographic surveys.
